It was an unspoken tragedy. In only an instant, the lives of thousands of men and women were silenced on a battlefield in the remote jungles of South America. It is my opinion this was merely a precursor- an act of mere insignificance to political transgressions that would result in an even greater tragedy.
When Admiral Jamitov Hymem stepped before the Earth Federation Assembly and took over his role as commander Earth Federation Armed Forces, everyone in the room knew what it was: A hostile takeover by of a democratic government by a nationalistic militant wing within the army.
However, it would only be future historians that would correctly identify this significant point as when the beginning of the Late Century Crisis-a chaotic phase for the Earth Federation and a contemporary to the Crisis of the 3rd Century for the late Roman Empire.
The AEUG had been devastated by their losses on Earth. Leaving only a token army, they abandoned their crusade on Earth to rekindle their flame amongst the stars. Reunited, the Polaris Battle Group took their time to rest and recover from a war whose deadline extended itself to some indefinite point in the far future. There would be no longer be an easy victory.
The Titans took their turn to go on the offensive. Their target was the Moon. At center of this grand strategy was a scheming Jovian mercenary and his band of competent highwaymen. With a carte blanche by necessity and a zest for violence, a terror campaign swept over the cities as the Titans increasingly began to assert their dominance. At the time, everyone correctly anticipated that the third actor, Anaheim Electronics, wouldn't just simply sit back and watch.
