The Titans suppress knowledge of the theft and assign the newly commissioned Marsa Allan battle group and Mobile Suit Development Squadron 17 (DEVRON 17), the 'Hurricanes', to recover the nukes and eliminate Luger.

Luger's team ambushes the cruiser and her escorts, though, destroying two Salamis class destroyers and killing ENS Lindsay McKay, the 17th's artillery specialist. The Allan herself sustains heavy damage in the fighting retreat. Luger is forced to break off pursuit after a daring, unsupported raid led by the 17th's second in command, Jim Anderson, destroys an entire flight of his mobile suits and another of his Musais.

The Red Christmas - the Titan's Marsa Allan battle group corners Hank Luger of the Remnant at Side Two while his flagship is refueling. Luger threatens to use his nuclear warhead on the colonies if he is not permitted to depart. The Allan and DEVRON 17 instead attack, securing the warheads and wiping out Luger's Remnant Battle Group. Jim Anderson decorated for heroism for hastily reorganizing the battle plan after the 17th's new CO was quickly killed after leaving them in a dire tactical situation. The Hurricanes remain together, but several of her experienced pilots, including Anderson, are transferred out to fill gaps in other Titans units with combat veterans.

Anti-Federation demonstrations backed quietly by the fledgling political movement known as the Anti-Earth Union Group (AEUG) devolve into riots. The detachment of Federal troops and the local police are overwhelmed quickly, and request support from the Titans to contain the riots.
The Alexandria and Kandahar battle groups were deployed under the command of personal command of Commodore Bask Om to deal with the situation.

The Thirty Bunch Incident: The Titans use poison gas to suppress a demonstration at Colony 30 of Side 1, wiping out the colony's three million inhabitants. Anti-Federation resistance increases as a result, and the Anti-Earth Union Group (AEUG) is organized from a political movement to a paramilitary group and begins building a shipyard and mobile suit production facilities at Granada.

The Zodiac Squadron make a quick retreat for Florida to find a gateway into outer space from ground sympathizers. The Magi Squadron rendezvous with a carrier and head for Dakar.
The Liedman Amendment. Jamitov is given the authority to mobilize the Earth Federation Army and Earth Federation Space Forces. Secretary of Defense Dominic Salazar is forced to step down from his position.

Luger threatens to use his nuclear warhead on the colonies if he is not permitted to depart. The Allan and DEVRON 17 instead attack, securing the warheads and wiping out Luger's Remnant Battle Group. Jim Anderson decorated for heroism for hastily reorganizing the battle plan after the 17th's new CO was quickly killed after leaving them in a dire tactical situation. The Hurricanes remain together, but several of her experienced pilots, including Anderson, are transferred out to fill gaps in other Titans units with combat veterans.
