Since their return to the Polaris Hilda had not appreciated being kept in the dark about the ultimate fate of their resident Black Leg. She was even less appreciative of having to sit on a shuttle, her Dias in the cargo bay, as the battle raged around them. I would swear that we weren't going to make it. So much fire came close, and I think that Leftenant Roberto next to me pissed himself at one point. Thankfully, we made it, we're here, and now its time to see what the Powers-That-Be do with our little problem she thought, sliding into the cafeteria for a much-needed cup of coffee.
She finished off the coffee and decided to check her Dias. Once she was in the hangar, she spotted Petrenko and Regard in one of the corners. Nodding at the pair, she drifted over lazily, a slight grin on her face. "Afternoon, Ben, Marika" she said, slipping onto a chair. "What's the good word? Any bets on whether or not Anderson can breathe in space?" she said with a wicked gleam in her eyes.

"You don't need to worry about me going off half-cocked, Langstrom. Unlike my former colleagues, some of us actually are here to protect innocent life. Not sure the team'll like that much, Langstrom, but they'll have to live with it. I'll keep'em in line" he said, in what was probably the first time anyone who knew him had heard him semi-serious outside the cockpit. "Good. If you do your job, you won't get any trouble from me. But you break the ROE, you won't hear the end of it. Is that clear?"

After finishing his workout, Fred had taken a quick shower before heading to the mess for a quick bite to eat. While there, he saw Steiner walk in, and grab a drink, she hadn't stayed long but it reminded him that he wanted to see if she knew anything else about the talk about new models, granted he wasn't expecting one but if there was talk about new models everyone wanted to hear about them. On top of being the boss, she was a friend of the Captain, so if anyone had any solid intel he knew it would be her, or rather anyone that he could talk to under normal circumstances. So he got up and dumped what was left of his sandwich before following her down to the hanger.
He hadn't planned to head down here, but there wasn't anything he could do about it now, but when he heard Steiner speak to the other two pilots, he looked at Petrenko and wondered why she was apparently sleeping in such an odd place, not to mention that she didn't have a Mobile Suit anymore. He then heard her ask about betting on if Anderson coild breathe in space. "Of course he can breathe in space Lieutenant. Didn't you hear that he's an angel? He's here to aid us mere mortals on 'The Journey'." he said, trying to start with a joke to avoid pissing her off. If she was pissed at him, or he let her go on about Anderson too long, then he wasn't going to get anything out of her after all.

Marika slowly brought peered over her knees before noticing Ben and rested her chin on her knees with her scowl still in place."Not sleeping, sulking." The blonde sighed and watched the lieutenant for a moment before reaching up with her right hand to secure herself against the walkway. She didn't know much about Ben aside from he was a higher rank and a bit older then her, but that's what happened when you weren't on the same squad.
It would be Hilda's arrival that got more of a reaction although it was limited to just a small smile. The comment about Anderson however made Marika scratch at her neck unsure. Still it was enough to motivate Marika to push off from the walkway down to the ground to stand amongst Ben and Hilda. "If they're bringing him this far I don't think they're going to do that ma'am." Marika's tone was a bit somber as she was still stuck in her sulky mood and shrugged.

I'm not the one you should be worried about breaking ROE. Zeke Jim half snarled internally. He just nodded back though. "I can pretty much guarantee I won't be committing any atrocities, Langstrom. Why do you think I left the Titans" he said, green eyes burning back with certainty that he wasn't going to do anything like that. He then took another sip of the tea. Not bad stuff, really. How he brews in zero gee is a mystery, but end of the day who cares? he thought as he looked back. "I'll just keep the kids in line and make sure that we frag as many of the bastards as we can. What's the next move? You don't get much scuttlebutt in the Brig..."

Ben simply shrugged, finishing off what was left of his sandwich and crumpling it up in its wrapper. It was all the same difference from where he was standing but it wasn’t worth getting into. If she wanted to hang out in a corner and sulk, likely about whatever was happening with Anderson, then more power to her. At least she wasn’t hoping for some horrid fate like some other individuals onboard, one of whom was making her way over at that moment.
“Yo, Hilda,” he greeted with a grin of his own, not missing the look she had as she spoke of the former Titan. She might as well shout from the heavens how much she wanted to space the guy. “Gotta agree with Marika on that one. If anything, they’ll let him off for the hook if he’s as on the level as I think he is.”

"I can pretty much guarantee I won't be committing any atrocities, Langstrom. Why do you think I left the Titans" The captain swirled the last bit of liquid before finishing the job. "I don't need your guarantees or your reasons, I just want you to come forward when the time is right and keep it clean. I'm going to be honest and say I really didn't want it to turn out like this, but I"ll hold my end of the bargain."Langstrom stood up and offered Jim his handshake. "I'll just keep the kids in line and make sure that we frag as many of the bastards as we can. What's the next move? You don't get much scuttlebutt in the Brig..." "You're going to need these. People won't believe me even if I told them."In his left hand were his new LCDR bars. There was a reassuring grin on his face. "Let's inform the others."

Deciding he’d done enough contemplation for now and sick of staring at the monitor screen, Eddy swallowed what absinthe was left in the glass with a harsh gulp, set the empty glass down on the desk and quietly floated out of his quarters, the door closing with a hiss behind him as he opted for a lonely nighttime stroll.
He shifted his train of thought from what awaited them at Von Braun to what he’d do once the matter of Anderson was put to rest. As much as he wanted the prick to get slapped around by karma for how he’d belittled, insulted and assaulted him for two months, Eddy wanted Anderson to be cleared of whatever scuttlebutt he’d been accused of, to stay with the AEUG and contribute his keen tactical senses to their battle against the Titans.
He just didn’t want anything to do with the man. He didn’t want to fly with him, share the same ship with him, to eat meals with him and so on. Right now, all Eddy wanted was to return to the Geronimo and continue what made him valuable to the AEUG: training new pilots from scratch and helping out-of-touch veterans get back in shape.
And if Eddy was forced to fly with Anderson, he already knew what his answer would be: to pack his bags, return to Von Braun and never look back. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

Jim slugged the last of his tea, shaking his head at the Zeke's statements. Yeah. I don't like this either, Langstrom. I never wanted to be here either. But goddamnit, no one else wants to step up, then I guess its on me to deal with this he thought, nodding at Langstrom. "I'll hold up my end, Langstrom. I'll keep the kids alive and put the hurt on the bastards as best we can" he said amicably.
Lars then tossed a pair of collar devices over to him. Jim caught them in hand and looked down at the two bars and one diamond of a Federal Lieutenant Commander. Once more unto the breach, dear friends... he thought quietly. "Probably not. Eddy won't like it, but I'm holding him as Squadron XO, so he'll get over it. Unless there's something in Steiner's record that indicates she'd be suited for the job? I mean, of course, the parts you can see, because all I got to see when I checked her out on the Geronimo was that she was a Warrant during the War, and nothing else" he asked Lars with an inquiring stare. Blacked out files are never good. And Eddy, for all the troubles we had, is a damned good flier and trainer. He's got potential if he just gives it a legitimate go at being a leader... I don't know Regard as well, but he seems quite good too he thought as he tried to get a read on Lars.

"I'll hold up my end, Langstrom. I'll keep the kids alive and put the hurt on the bastards as best we can" "Good, then there shouldn't be any problems."For now. Lars kept his complaints as an afterthought. There was no way he was going to direct Kowen's ire towards him, if he could help it. "Probably not. Eddy won't like it, but I'm holding him as Squadron XO, so he'll get over it. Unless there's something in Steiner's record that indicates she'd be suited for the job? I mean, of course, the parts you can see, because all I got to see when I checked her out on the Geronimo was that she was a Warrant during the War, and nothing else" Lars thought this through carefully. Hilda had the experience, but her attitude and displacement made her a bit of a wild card. Eddy, on the other hand, could use some help from someone who was a little more motivated. "I want Eddy as your XO. I know Hilda. I know her well. Believe me when I say I'm doing us all a favor by not having her brushing shoulders with you."He went over to the PA system and made his next move. "Pilots, please assemble on the hangar deck."His opposing hand went for the door release when he gestured back to Jim. "We've got work to do."

Eddy was quietly lost in his own thoughts when his ears perked up, picking up Langstrom’s message over the intercom for all pilots to assemble at the hangar deck. He had a feeling in his gut that it had something to do with Anderson. Probably gonna find out what his fate’s to be. If Hilda had her way, she’d be waving bye-bye to him from the right side of an airlock...
Wasting little time, Eddy grabbed a lift-grip and made his way down the corridor to a turbolift, selected the hangar deck as his destination and laid back against the wall as the car zoomed through the complicated turbolift system across the ship until it came to a stop, letting him out just a meter away from the entrance to the hangar deck.
Kicking off and out of the car, Eddy grabbed another lift-grip that gave him a boost into the hangar, floating in a look on his face that told people it would be best to let him be. He saw that most of the pilots were gathered there anyway. I wonder what their reactions are going to be to...whatever this is. God help us if Hilda doesn't like what she hears.

Hilda listened as the rest of the pilots let her know what they were thinking. Sadly, I think they have a point. If we were going to do the right thing and waste him, we'd have done it already. I just hope Lars has the common sense to kick him to another squad, since he is poison to morale and cohesion, even if he's a decent stick and tactician she thought, permitting herself to chuckle at Castle's attempt at humor. "Well, if he's an angel, then I don't want to see what Hell looks like, Castle. And I still say that theory can only be tested to see if he can manage to breathe vacuum, but as you say, well. If we were going to do the smart thing with that spying shitbag, we'd have shot him already" she said, lip curling in superiority over the Titan.
She glared back at Regard. "If a man can turn his coat once, he can do it again, Lieutenant. I don't care if he appears 'on the level' - once a Titan, always a Titan" she said, shaking her head. The announcement coupled with Eddy's arrival had her nod. "One hopes this is the Captain telling us that Anderson is leaving the ship. After all, even if they aren't just spacing him, I don't want him under my command, and I would imagine you don't either, Eddy" she said with a thin smile.

Jim slipped the collar devices on after a moment's hesitation. Not sure I really should be leading again. Its been two years, and I don't want this. I just want to kill the bastards and not have to worry about the kids. But if no one else can... he thought, sighing as Lars mentioned they had work to do. "That we do, Langstrom. So let's be about it" he said, kicking off the couch and towards the door with practiced ease as the pair headed straight for the hangar bay.
Jim was the first one through the door as he spotted the bulk of the pilots. He slid to the side, though, to make room for Langstrom. Since the only difference between his Ensign collar devices and his new ones was an extra stripe instead of more pips, only close inspection would show his new rank...

Ben shrugged at Hilda’s words, not missing the irony. “’Once a Titan, always a Titan’ says the pot to the kettle,” he chided, a not so subtle jab at Hilda’s own history as a Zeke. If it really were such an issue, she and the rest of the Zekes hanging around would’ve been shown the door just as they entered just for what happened in ’79. Not to mention most of the AEUG was made up of Federation soldiers like himself who were fed up with the Titans. “All I’m saying is he deserves a fair shake.”
“Besides,” he said with a nod towards Jim as he entered, “It looks like your hopes and dreams are about to get shot down.” He certainly didn’t look like they roughed him up and given the Captain was right behind him, he was going to stick around for a while longer. Squinting slightly at the man, Ben whistled. “Looks like he’s movin up in the world.”

While he didn't agree with Steiner ahout Anderson being a spy, he did agree with her about trusting a traitor, even if he himself had betrayed the Federation by coming here as well. But he supposed that was one reason he wasn't screaming "guilty" with her. He didn't really have a probkem with her personally so far, but he still smirked at Regard's response to her, if she wanted to decide Anderson was guilty for no reason other than formerly being a Titan and keeping quiet about it, the Zeon people here were guilty for everything Zeon had done. "Well that's why he was sent to guide us Lieutenant, just to keep you out of Hell. Sorry boss, gotta agree that if he's still alive now, they aren't going to be testing your theory."
He was going to ask if she'd heard anything about the new models, but before he had the chance, there was an announcement telling all the pilots to head to the hanger, which came straight from the Captain, followed by LeNoire entering the hanger but he seemed to be sticking to himself for now, which was a bit of a surprise. Even so, the hanger seemed like an odd spot for the Captain to see them, and it also appeared that he wanted them all to be there, not just Steiner and LeNoire, so it was probably something important, likely to do with Anderson.
Steiner seemed to think this was about Anderson's fate, which he agreed with, but it still seemed odd. But considering it was obvious that Anderson wasn't getting spaced by the Captain, Fred had to agree that she was probably correct about them sending him away, even if he wasn't a spy, he'd still been lying to them the whole time and any trust they had between him was damaged, if not gone. It hadn't been long before Anderson and the Captain had arrived. Anderson wasn't followed by a guard of any kind, or restrained for that matter, which he doubted Steiner would be pleased about. Regard obviously thought the same thing based on what he'd said to her, but he'd then said something about Anderson moving up in the world.
Fred didn't understand what theother man meant at first, but after taking another closer look at Anderson he saw that the other man's rank had been changed to that of his former Titan rank. "Holy shit, that's way up. This looks like it's gonna be really fun. What could possibly go wrong here?"
