I have to confess: I really wasn't expecting much from this anime from the get-go. It was a giant robot show that wasn't made by Sunrise. The mechanical designs seemed dubious. The characters were high schoolers. Even the first episode started to steer me away from it. Then, things started to happen. The show is incredibly misleading. You have two main characters, but neither are focused on that much. The last two episodes payed attention to side characters such as Count Saazbaum, who made it his personal agenda to destroy Vers and its despotic monarchy by dragging it into a war with Earth. His justifications for killing the Princess were built solely on her status as a noble. Honestly, aside from the death of his wife, it's difficult to pick holes in his argument. His introduction in the show, admits the incompetent hubris knights, who varied from debauchery to barbarism, were targets for simple tactics/tricks that Inaho played from a book. There isn't much left of the 1st Cour, but I think it's enough for me to watch the 2nd.

I have pretty similar issues. {Spoiler} What you've got is a situation in which Mars Gihren (Saazbaum) leading a rebellion against Lord Ezelcant (Vers Emperor) and is leading the poor, downtrodden, oppressed people of Side 3-I mean Vers against the corrupt and technologically inferior Earth Federation-I mean United Forces. I thought it was going to be a typical "enemy of the week" shtick with Inaho using some ploy to beat them each time but now the plot has gotten so convoluted. The good guys found the White Base- I mean Deucalion and have now reached Jaburo-I mean the United Forces secret underground headquarters in Russia. Honestly I feel like they stole half this shit from Gundam and other mecha shows. I also can't stand PTSD Mu la Flaga/Slegger Law. Why isn't he dead yet? That being said, I really liked this scene:
This is how a colony drop should be run.

I find the show pretty swell myself. It's very silly and takes itself too seriously but it's like Gundam on Independence Day juice, not very bright but certainly entertaining. PTSD Chewy needs to die already though, he's been a waste of space since episode 2.
