Yazan is a man who revels in violence and battle. He’s been cited for his almost animalistic cunning and an intense personal presence. While mostly jovial many find him a bit off putting when they meet him, sometimes due to her personal habit of wandering shirtless when not in official uniform.
History
Yazan is the son of a former college professor who was fired when it was revealed that he had plagiarized most of his recent work from his students. Still an infant, Yazan’s mother Marie left her husband, earning an anti-academic streak. This tendency was instilled in her son, While other children were scolded by their parents for underachieving in the classroom, Yazan’s mother paid no mind, and Yazan began to develop a healthy disrespect for authority, though it was tempered by the threat of punishment, leading to a tendency to look for ways to subvert authority while remaining clean.
Worried about the young man, a local vicar suggested that Yazan be enrolled in a seminary, in the hopes that it would straighten the young man out a little. Marie, growing worried about some of the signs of rebellion and lack of respect she suspected, hesitantly agreed. Yazan hated every moment of it. Fortunately for him, as his 18th birthday approached, the One Year War broke out- giving him a way to escape. He enlisted in the EF forces, but by the time that he finished basic training, he was never called for any serious engagements, and instead was occupied only in mild skirmishes of little note before the One Year War had ended. However, Yazan did discover that he liked the thrill of battle.
With the war complete, Yazan applied for officer academy with the intention of becoming a Mobile Suit pilot, hoping to gain the acclaim that the RX-79. the other Gundam, and GM pilots did. Yazan passed the academy with high marks, but his instructors noticed a certain ruthlessness to his tactics, obtaining the success at the cost of other members of his class of whom he had a low opinion of. This prevented Yazan from receiving a recommendation to any of the high profile contingents that were beginning to form. However, his ruthlessness was valued for another project. While the Titans were seen as an elite group, they were also founded as champions of the EFF; Brave counter-insurgents taking on true monsters. At least at first, the EFF required a unit, code named “Wraith Squadron” to run MS black-ops: wet work assignments, and faked pirate engagements to hit suspected Zeon loyalists without risking the image the Titans were attempting to cultivate for themselves. Yazan loved his work, and took to it with savage glee. Though very few official reports documented his actions, he began to acquire nicknames throughout the EFF such as “savage”, or “devil”, or his favorite, “The Beast”.
Over time, the need for a black ops branch to support the Titans diminished, mostly as Bask Om began taking on those missions himself without worrying about blowback. Eventually, Wraith Squadron was disbanded entirely, along with the rest of the EFF. Yazan was offered a position with the Titans, a post he gladly accepted.
