Aluria is one of the most kind, caring, and loyal people you will ever know. However, you'll have to make the first move, she's shy and uncomfortable around others she doesn't know. This can make her come as as cold or even uninterested, but won't stop her from working towards her goal with all she's got.
History
She was born to an upper middle class family, her father Gregory ran his own real estate business that provided more than what his family needed and afforded them a comfortable lifestyle. His wife Kimberly, stayed at home until Aluria and her younger sister Alexandria were old enough to be at home by themselves after school for an hour or two. At that point she acquired a job as a secretary at the local police station. Aluria and her younger sister were as close as could be. Frequently, the two sisters would visit their mother at the police station and got to know the officers who worked there. When Aluria turned fifteen, a Lieutenant Benjamin Cross, an older officer who worked with her mother, offered to take Aluria up in his private plane for a day. Hesitantly she accepted, having never left the ground before. This decision would profoundly change her life forever. The experience of flying in the open blue sky like a bird seemed to liberate her. When they landed the Benjamin having seen how much she loved the experience offered to teach her how to pilot the aircraft, but only with her parents permission. After weeks of begging and pestering her parents she finally got her wish on the grounds that she kept up with her school work and extracurricular activities. When Aluria turned 17 she passed her test and was awarded a private pilot certificate.
A short year later, around Christmas, her family (including grandparents, aunts and uncles, as well as cousins) planned a trip overseas to Australia during the Christmas break. Aluria, fought with her parents over going on the trip, saying she wanted to stay and spend the holidays with friends she likely wouldn't see again for sometime after they graduated in the summer. After many arguments and raised voices Aluria got her way and stayed home from the trip. Little did she know that argument she had with her parents would be the last time she ever saw them or her little sister again. Then January 3, UC 0079 arrived and changed the world forever.
It was the first day back to school for the kids after winter break. Aluria had overslept, completely unaware that she had been orphaned. Having missed the bus, she decided to run to school; After all, it was only a short distance away. It was then that her teacher caught up with her as he flashed his lights and sirens went off. Aluria was caught completely off guard, but a smile came across her face as she saw it was Mr. Cross who got out of the squad car, she figured he knew she was late and offered to give her a ride to school. Unfortunately for Aluria, his face was pale and he didn't quite know how to tell the young woman the terrible news that she obviously knew nothing about. Benjamin offered to take Aluria in and help her with the large amount of legal work that she now had to face. After the memorial service was held for her family on her birthday she wasn't seen again for weeks. Eventually, she returned to school to finish her final year, but she had changed. No longer was she the outgoing girl that everyone had known before, she had let her rage and hatred shut her in. Her rage at the monsters who stole her family away, but more so than that she hated herself for the way she spoke to her family before they left, and now all she was left with was that regret.
Eventually, she had to choose which college she wanted to attend, and she had been accepted to all of her top choices. In the past she would have been grateful that she'd been accepted to the same college that her friends had, but she knew what she wanted now more than any other time and so she chose to enter the Earth Federation Academy. Her hope was to make someone, anyone pay for what happened to her family and since she already held a civilian pilot license she knew that Federation forces would more than be willing to take her in especially since they were in this war for the long haul. Thus, she began training as a cadet at the academy putting her all into it.
To her dismay, The Principality of Zeon fell just one year short of the anniversary of the colony drop. While many of the cadets at the academy were overwhelmed with joy that they might never have to see conflict, Aluria's heart ached that she wouldn't get revenge for her family, that she couldn't somehow make it up to them for the way she acted. A midst the celebration she received a call from Officer Cross, his voice strained as he forced himself to talk. "Aluria, you're... a wonderful girl. You mustn't go on blaming yourself for..." He coughed painfully vocally spitting something out, worried she replied "Mr. Cross is everything alright?" He continued almost unaware that she'd said anything, "Don't go on blaming yourself for what happened to your family....... Before they left your mother and father asked me to watch you while......" He wheezed and coughed his breathing becoming heavier, tears came to Aluria's face as she tried to remain in denial and hope for the better outcome, but she knew deep down what was happening. "Mr. Cross, is someone coming to help you? You called for assistance, an ambulance right?!?" Cross continued with the last of his strength, "They loved you and.... I do too.... So don't go on hating the world so much, eh? I want you to remember... You're weakness is you're strength..... I know you'll overcome all this pain and fly high again someday." The phone fell to the ground and Aluria fell to the ground sobbing in complete defeat.
After attending another funeral, she returned to the academy and doubled down on her school work. By this time, the Federation had something better than planes to fight with, they had marvelous new machines called mobile suits. Her goal of being a pilot hadn't changed, why she wanted to pilot and what she was going to pilot had.. Time continued forward as days became weeks, weeks became months, months became semesters. Along the way Aluria would open herself up to others and make new friends, healing little by little with each new experience. Before long, the day of graduation had come. She wasn't the best in her class, but managed to just get on the Superintendent's List and upon receiving her diploma she was given her first assignment, formal training in space.
Tensions had once again stirred between the Federation and Zeon sympathizers during the course of 0083. Most of which didn't involve Aluria, except one day while her squad was out for zero gravity mobile suit training. It was a day like any other out in the Shoal Zone. The instructor, a Lieutenant Sarah Conley was becoming irritated that her pilots continued to struggle at grasping the concepts of flight in zero gravity. That day was different though, remnants of Zeon or as they called themselves now members of the Delaz Fleet had found the training ship and decided to engage them. As the battle began, the Sarah immediately ordered her trainees to return to the ship. The other members of the squad either froze up or frantically attempted to make it back to the ship, however the attack force we split in two and Sarah had her hands full dealing with the other two mobile suits and the ships suits not yet ready to launch there was little that would stop the remnants from taking the ship. Just as suddenly as these remnants showed up, everything seemed to click in Aluria's mind and quickly she managed take down an enemy suit and damage another forcing it to back down, with almost no thought behind it. Even though all combat records against the Delaz Fleet were sealed at the end of the year, the newly formed task force wouldn't soon forget the young woman who'd managed to drive off the menace from space on one of her first times out in the field.
It was early the next year shortly after it was announced that a new branch of the Federation military was being formed with the goal of eliminating any remaining sentiment for the Principality of Zeon. Aluria received a letter formally inviting her to join the Titans for her exemplary performance during the skirmish that occurred during her training and that they expected great things out of her. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but there was definitely something off with this new group. So, she refused the invitation. A week or so later she found herself reassigned to the lunar defense fleet, mindlessly going over the same routine day in and day out. The one thing keeping her sanity intact was the fact she got to fly.
As she remained on this dead end assignment the world continued on, and quickly her decision to not join the Titans proved smart. It quickly became no secret among the "regular" forces that the Titans had no respect and no regard for the Federation Forces and viewed them as nuisance or even just tools expended to complete their job. Even the perfect Titans had their mishaps, rumors or more like whispers circulated among the Federation soldiers about an incident involving zeonic remnants that had managed to scrape together a nuclear warhead. Then of course there was the riot that broke out in Colony 30, and terrorists in that riot killed an entire colony to make a point. The Titans in both situations were there to help out, they recovered the nuclear weapon and provided assistance to the few refugees that managed to escape colony 30.
Colony 30 was two years ago now, and Aluria's daily routine had remained the same as it always had. It was a few weeks ago now, but out of the blue Aluria received an urgent encrypted e-mail. As she opened the letter it proved to be from her former instructor Sarah Conley. The details of the letter disclosed what had really transpired during the 30 Bunch incident and the terrible role the Titans had played in it. The letter closed with what was likely Sarah's final words warning Aluria she had to get out now if she still sought that world they'd talked about once. Recently, there had been news of a militant group calling themselves the Anti-Earth Union Group who opposed the Titans tyrannical rule.
