Though he could personally understand why Salazar was being as defiant as he was (it wasn't easy to suddenly see your life work go up in flames before your eyes), Julian earnestly wished he would've just played along obediently. He had no desire to rough up the politician and certainly not to make any sort of scene. Frankly hew just wanted this whole fiasco to be over. Lord knew he had enough on his plate to think about.
Allowing the man to fire off his last verbal shot at Jamitov, Julian than gave him another shove on the shoulder out the door. He didn't know how far he was supposed to escort the fallen Secretary but he didn't want to waste even more time here. All the while he barely paid any notice towards Katharyn. In his mind he had little doubt the girl was savoring this moment. He guessed that someone had to.

Jamitov watched his arch-nemesis get shoved out the door. In another era, you might have been relevant. There was no place for corruption or diplomacy in his vision of the Federation. What they needed now was strength.
"There is but one message we shall give the AEUG: No negotiations, no treaties, no envoys. no quarrels, no dialogues, no rapprochement,, nor white peace. The only terms we shall accept are their complete and unconditional surrender. The world needs a strong government, and a strong government needs a strong army. The first order of business is to draft plans for the complete mobilization for the rest of the Titan armada. This war began in space, and so shall it end there. For our enemies, let us give them the most unimaginable and calculable defeat- one in which they can never salvage victory from."
His fist was an iron gauntlet poised on rigid arm raised above the podium.
"Long live the Federation! Long live the hegemony!"
For the Magi Squadron, they stood before the applause of the entire Earth Federation Assembly. The overpowering cheers only marginalized the small and view voices of dissent. With his speech finished, Jamitov asked his men to join him in the back room- gesturing for them to follow.

Even as he finished the process of pushing Salazar out the door of the Assembly room, his attention was fully directed towards his Commander in Chief as he declared his reasoning for this coup. To say that he had mixed feelings would be a massive understatement. On the one hand he could appreciate the point of view that a strong government was needed to defeat a foe as subversive as the AEUG but this wasn't the way to do it. The Federation's strength was that its legitimacy stemmed from the people, its citizens. What Jamitov was doing was cutting them out of the picture.
While the assembly might continue to exist it would just be a facade behind which the true leaders of the Federation would operate. As far as Julian was concerned the military was supposed to operate alongside the government as its protector against outside threats. Now Jamitov was making them one and the same, shifting the balance of power greatly. While the man could claim that these changes would only be in place until the AEUG was dealt with, the blond-haired pilot didn't believe it. After all, wasn't it a common adage that 'Absolute power corrupts absolutely'?
"So this is how democracy dies," mumbled Julian under his breath, "With thunderous applause."
With his distasteful task dealt with, he obediently followed Jamitov's command to assemble in the back room with the rest of his team. A scowl on his face, he readjusted his beret as he thought on what their leader could possibly want with them. Probably to give us some sort of mission he wants off the books, thought Julian with contempt. Before he had Bask as his attack dog so he didn't grab any attention. Now all of us are likely to get blood on our hands.

As Salazar shook off Miller and made his exit with one last, ineffectual jibe towards Jamitov, and Miller continued to shove him forward out the door, Katharyn hung half a step behind. Though unarmed, she was perfectly ready to intervene should Salazar try something. Fortunately, Salazar slumped out of the assembly hall.
Katharyn's face remained an impassive mask, her satisfaction at seeing this second-rate politician more concerned with saving his own ass than actually doing something productive to combat the twin threats of Zeon and their AEUG lackeys remaining buried deep down. With barely a glance at Miller, whom she guessed from his earlier expression - not that she gave a shit one way or another - had disapproved of her earlier outburst, she turned on her heel and returned to her place among her fellow pilots.
She turned her attention back to Jamitov as the leader of the Titans - and now of the Federation Forces - again began to speak. His message was, to her, crystal clear. The AEUG was an enemy with which there could be no concessions, no negotiations. nothing. Not after what had happened at Jaburo. And then there was Zeon. Deep down, she believed that soon Axis would make another move against the Federation, a belief that only served to fuel the hatred that had driven her to the Titans. And with the full might of the Earth Federation Forces behind them, the Titans would be ready to dispose of that threat when it inevitably appeared. And yet...
'Why am I getting a bad feeling about this?' She mentally asked herself as Jamitov finished speaking. Something about Jamitov's words - or rather, about the man himself, now, as he spoke - made her unaccountably uneasy. She dismissed the thought for now, ignoring the nagging in the back of her mind as Jamitov made to leave, and motioned for the Magi Squadron to follow. She held her position, surreptitiously glancing over to Commander Ennis. And she waited.

"So this is what a bloodless coup looks like. Unless, of course, you're counting Jaburo going up in flames. Which I just might be . . ."
Ennis rolled both shoulders back slightly, a personal tic he was largely unaware of, that even Julian (and especially Jamitov, if he was looking) would recognize as a habitual motion before stepping into the cockpit of his machine. He'd done it before they arrived at the Assembly, and he was doing it now: in some way he felt there was a fight coming, or at least danger. Otherwise his mask of professional distance remained in place, although he nodded reassuringly to Holcroft when he caught her looking at him.
Once the doors closed behind them Ennis crossed his arms and nodded to Jamitov in turn.
"Interesting day for the history books, sir. What's the next page look like?"

It wouldn't have taken the entire workup for Jaime to recognize Ennis' tell, and it was a bit of a dead ringer. Still, seeing it confused Jaime.
Didn't we just get a big win? Shouldn't we be celebrating?
But the Commander would have his ass (again) if Jaime slacked off at a moment when something important was happening. Holcroft and Miller were in the process of escorting Salazar out, but it wouldn't do for his CO to go unescorted. Jaime fell into line behind Ennis, staying a respectful distance behind the man while returning at ease.
I might mouth off a good bit more than I ought to...but damn if I'm going to a man you don't deserve it. And the Admiral has got to be at the very bottom of that list. Maybe ahead of Commander Ennis.

"Interesting day for the history books, sir. What's the next page look like?" "History is something that's made- not written."Jamitov ditched the cane, handing it to an adjutant as he passed through the double doorway. After donning his overcoat, he turned to face the large window. The moon was still up in the sky. Jamitov stared at it with intent. "The AEUG didn't appear out of thin air. Somewhere up there, they're producing warships, weapons, and mobile suits. They're also training officers, calculating, and making plans against us. If we leave things as they were, they'll invade the Earth again. We won't let that happen."He turned to face the others. "Ennis, this war will be fought and won in outer space. I want to take this war straight to their doorstep. I've hired a man- A mercenary. He as a plan. It's a good one, but it requires that we scout some of the AEUG positions on the moon in advance. That's where you come in. You're to go up there with your team and meet him. I want you to make his stay a welcome one. He's a respectable pilot and a capable officer, so I'm sure you'll find no problem with this."

Katharyn caught Commander Ennis’s odd shrug, like a rolling of his shoulders, but missed the significance of the gesture itself. She was too preoccupied with Jamitov himself. Then she saw him nod discreetly in her direction, a reassuring sort of gesture. And instantly, she was on the move, falling into line behind Neston as he followed their Commander, behind Jamitov. Dominic Salazar she completely banished from her mind. The worm was no longer relevant. What mattered now was Jamitov, and what the leader of the Titans and the new Commander of the Earth Federation Forces would ask them to do next.
As the doors closed behind them, she found her eyes straying towards the moon, high in the sky beyond the window. Though not of a poetic nature, she had always felt there was something beautiful about the moon. But now, as she listened to Jamitov speak, she felt nothing but a powerful sense of foreboding - he was right, after all. ‘Someone has to be bankrolling these bastards. Those GM-types didn’t come out of nowhere…I wonder if Anaheim had anything to do with it.’ Back in ’83, there’d been rumors about Anaheim Electronics, the powerful manufacturing company based on the moon. She’d never paid much attention to them, but now…
She cut off that train of thought as, predictably, Jamitov ordered them into space, to scout out AEUG positions on the moon. The surprise was when Jamitov, even with the enormous resources he now had, revealed he’d hired an outsider - a mercenary. ‘What the hell? We’re the Titans - what’d we need some second-rate dirtbag who only fights for money for?’ She thought, but wisely kept this question to herself. Her expression impassive, she waited for Commander Ennis to react.

"Provided he can be trusted, I don't see a problem, sir. But that might be the problem. Titans usually hunt people who are an awful lot like mercenaries, and we know the AEUG have deep coffers. Can this man be trusted enough that we don't have to worry about him letting the AEUG try and beat our offer? A traitor on a scouting mission could get us all killed or captured for no gain. I don't want that happening because someone wanted a bigger payoff."
